JACKSON COUNTY | Victims identified as girl, father

The victims of an apparent murder-suicide near Lake Lotawana were identified Thursday as a 12-year-old girl and her father.

The Sheriff’s Department said George Morejon, 58, apparently fatally shot daughter Gabrielle Morejon and then killed himself.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday about two bodies at a residence in the 25900 block of Milton Thompson Road, said Sgt. Lane T. Eitel of the sheriff’s office.

When they arrived, officers found the girl’s body in the residence and her father’s in a vehicle behind the home, Eitel said.
